What was the highlight of Grand Hotel Monopole
Classic style hotel near station
Close to the station with a cozy bar area. Comfortable beds and spacious room. The breakfast was very good with a nice variety of food. The staff was friendly and accommodating when we needed a sewing kit for a ripped coat.
The rooms could do with an update. The bathroom was quite old with a bit of a leak. We had a room next to the road, which you would hear.

Nice hotel with good location
Nice big rooms (business room). Really nice breakfast and the staff really sweet and helpfull. Parkering behind the hotel for 10€/night. The location of the hotel is close (500m) to a lot of restaurant, and just 150m from the train station with easy 15min access to Maastricht. No need to have the hazzle of the traffic and finding parking in Maastricht.
Rooms could be upgraded with some facilities for making coffee/the. No fridge, beds quite (too) soft, room very hot at night, even with outdoor temperature 18 degrees.

Great hotel, terrible booking and arriving experience.
Great staff. We came in pissed because all trains to Valkenburg had been cancelled so we had to spend 70€ on a taxi, but they were so kind that we couldn’t stay angry. We got upgraded a room as well.
They didn’t have anything listed on the app to show when check in time would be. Our train wasn’t supposed to get in til 21:30, and after scouring their website and booking.com, we assumed it would be OK since nothing indicated an early check in. However, It wasn’t until AFTER we paid that we found our check in was only from 15:00-18:00. I was and still am furious about how that was handled. We had to cancel plans in our prior city to get there in time for check in. Not to mention, rather than waiting for a later train, we had to waste an extra 70€ on a taxi to make sure we arrived in time.
